Junior League delivers gifts to Lily Pad

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Nearly a hundred kids in foster care will have a great Christmas thanks to volunteers with the Junior League.

On Sunday, volunteers delivered dozens of wrapped Christmas gifts to the Lily Pad on West 2nd Ave.

Officials at the Lily Pad say it's great to see the smiles on children's faces when they realize they are going to have a Christmas this year.

“When you think of children..when they come into foster care, they are taken out of their whole element. So they are thinking we are not going to have Christmas. They write down their Christmas list..what they want and we give it to the Junior League and they graciously go and get whatever is on their Christmas list,” says Whitney McDowel.

The Junior League delivered gifts for 87 kids. Advocates will pick up the gifts over the next week in time for the Christmas holiday.
