Tifton mayor to hold motorcade extravaganza to help in need

The Mayor of Tifton is leading an effort to provide Christmas gifts for people with mental health problems.

The Mayor's motorcade extravaganza will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Tift Theatre.

Money and items donated will be used to help people who live in group homes in the Tifton area.

“I love the fact that the mayors motorcade is so worthy of helping those that need help and that's what America is all about,” Jamie Cater, Tifton Mayor.

For decades, Mayors throughout our region collected gifts and supplies for patients at Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville each holiday season. But the state shut down that hospital a year ago.
