ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County school officials will hold a meeting for parents whose children are in the middle school gifted program.

The school board voted last month to move the program from Merry Acres Middle School to Robert Cross to help relieve overcrowding.

Merry Acres is designed for 700 students but currently has about 900.

"Tonight's meeting is designed to allow parents to meet the principal, the leadership and the staff of Robert Cross Middle Magnet School. They can get to know the school, look in the classrooms, see where the students will be attending school when they come back from Christmas break this year," said DCSS Spokesperson R. D. Harter.

The meeting is Thursday night at 6:00 at Robert Cross Middle Magnet School.

Students will begin at Robert Cross after they come back from Christmas break.
