TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Tifton police are working to figure out who raped a woman outside a day care center.

Investigators said they have no suspects in the rape of a woman early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened in a dark area by the Love Unlimited Day Care on Timmons Drive and 11th street about 5:30 a.m.

A man with a gun approached the woman and demanded money. When she refused, he forced her to the side of the daycare and raped her. The attack ended when a car pulled into the area.

“The offender ran from the initial area on foot and took the victim's black purse with him and the victim ran to that lady that had driven up for help and that lady in fact did call 9-11,” Lt. Lee Dunston, Tifton Police.

Tifton police say there are no cameras on the outside of the daycare. And the daycare is known to be open early for people dropping off children.

The only description of the rapist is a tall black man. He face was covered and he had a black handgun.

Anyone who knows anything about the attack should call the Tifton Police Department at 382-3132.
