ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Albany Firefighters are climbing that 110 foot tall ladder truck this week.

It's part of the operations drill that all front line first responders have to pass to stay with the Albany Fire Department.

The firefighters climb the aerial truck ladder about ten stories up and then fire the hose on top.

Even for veteran firefighters, it can be a frightening test,  but one they could face any day.

Captain Eugene Anderson said "When they go up, they go up with a ladder belt. And the ladder belt has a hook on it, should they get into a situation where they feel challenged.  "

All 150 Albany firefighters will take their annual area operations drill this week.
