THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A Thomasville man was busted by police after he left his own cell phone in a car he broke into.

Barrington Mickens is being charged with entering auto.

Police said Mickens broke into a car through a half-opened window and stole a CD player.

But what the crook left inside the car is what ultimately led to his arrest.

Major Eric Hampton with the Thomasville Police Department said, “It's kind of strange to find a phone and for the victim to find a phone that didn't belong to him in the vehicle.  It ended up being a valuable piece of evidence for us and allowed us to make this arrest on Mr. Mickens.”

Major Hampton reminds drivers to keep all windows and doors locked when you're away from your cars.
