AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The Georgia State Patrol is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps to provide Christmas presents for the less fortunate.
Patrol posts around the state started collecting the gifts a couple weeks ago as part of the 'Toys for Tots' programs.
The post in Americus has nearly 500 presents to give kids in Sumter and nearby counties.
"It's just a good outreach and a good way for the community to see that we're involved in our community and involved in the needs that are here," said GSP Sgt. Richard Peck.
Troopers from the Americus post will be collecting toys in the Christmas parade Thursday.
Other donations can be made daily at any State Patrol post.
