ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County officials discovered an illegal dump site near Radium Springs Road. The site is just across from the old casino building.

Commissioner Jon Howard alerted Judy Bowles with Keep Albany-Dougherty County Beautiful to a heap of concrete blocks in a wooded area. They believe the debris was dumped recently because of the fresh tracks in the ground.

"Oxford construction recycles these, you could take it there for no charge and they'll grind it up and use it again. So I can't tell you why anybody would do this," Bowles said.

"Unfortunately you have those individuals who, regardless of how you try to improve and enhance the community, you have a few that just would do these unthinkable dumping in the community," said Howard.

Bowles contacted code enforcement who will contact the owner of the property. They'll be responsible for cleaning it up. The dumper could be fined a thousand dollars.
