A shoplifting call and a wreck led to the discovery of drug possession violations last week in Douglas.

Last Monday, the Douglas Police Department responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Store security said that Wanda Marie Moore left the store without paying for all of the items in her shopping cart.

Officers found an unlabeled pill bottle, containing ten Xanax tablets and ten Lorcet tablets.

Moore was arrested for Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Theft by Shoplifting.

Two days later, there was a crash near the intersection of GA HWY 221 and Bowens Mill Road. Officers smelled marijuana coming from  one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

They searched the vehicle and discovered almost two ounces of marijuana in the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to Coffee Regional Medical Center.

After his release, Darien Sherod Brantley was arrested for Possession of more than One Ounce of Marijuana, with Intent to Distribute.
