THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - One neighborhood in Thomasville invited police officers to join them in a Thanksgiving feast.
Thomasville-Thomas County Community Service Center hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner in Fletcherville.
Nearly 200 people from the area stopped by to enjoy homemade food.
This year, they asked police to take a short break from their duties and join them.
Community Service Center Board Member Katrina Williams said, “Get to know the people so the people can know them. I think that will help them do their job better and get people to understand that the police department is not our enemy. They're here to protect and serve us.”
Volunteers from area churches helped serve fried turkey and mac and cheese to their neighbors.
