ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Southwest Georgia Regional airport in Albany was quiet this Thanksgiving. Only one flight was scheduled to arrive at the airport, earlier today.
Family members greeted loved ones coming home for the holidays. Those who spent the morning traveling say the airports weren't too crowded.
"What I seen when I was in Atlanta was the flights going north toward New York and things like that, they were the only flights delayed," said Joe Lewis, who is traveling from Oklahoma City.
"Airports were very crowded in Honolulu. But of course when we got here, it wasn't too crowded in Atlanta. Not what we were really expecting on a Thanksgiving day," said Dorothy Day, who is traveling from Hawaii.
"Although we had to sort of change in our gates, but we raced through the airport and made it in time and we're happy to be back home in Albany," said Lydia Davis who is traveling from Hawaii.
Airport officials expect Sunday and Monday to be much busier travel days.
