Albany residents speak out about Atlanta protests

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says he is pleased with the response from police to protests connected to the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury decision.

Hundreds of protestors marched to the state capitol and through downtown last night.

At one point they blocked traffic on the downtown connector... the major interstate through downtown Atlanta.

People in Albany tell us they're not surprised to see people protesting... And they're glad demonstrations in Georgia are not as violent as in Ferguson.

"They were a lot more calmer with it, They didn't take it to the extreme like they did in Ferguson. So I think it might hit home with some people," says Albany resident Ronnie Clark.

Atlanta Police in riot gear responded to the protests last night. 24 people were arrested.
