Downtown parking rules expected to change

A change is coming to parking rules in downtown Albany.

Currently street parking is free for two hours, but after that you can get a ticket.

Tuesday night, city commissioners voted to change that limit temporarily to four hours from 8 to 6 each weekday.

“Lot of ticket given out. a lot of complaints. People were down there looking for properties and doing things an sometimes those two hours went by quick,” B.J. Fletcher, City Commissioner.

The change will be in effect for 180 days then city officials will decide if the longer parking times are working better for people doing business downtown.

Free parking remains unlimited in the parking decks.

If you get a fine, it will serve as a warning and there will be no money taken.
