ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tree experts warn to expect falling limbs and uprooted trees because of the wet weather and recent cold temperatures. The roots on one tree gave way in the wet ground, and it toppled over.
Lee Harper of Harper Tree Service says homeowners should check pine trees over their houses and cars and look for limbs that could break off and do costly damage.
Harper said "During this time of the year, when it gets to winter time the sap in the pine trees is not flowing as well as it does during the summer. So it kinda freezes up. And the limbs over your house are going to pop. Pine trees are going to pop. They just get brittle during this time of the year."
Harper recommends you check to see if trees need trimming before freezing temperatures bring any chance of ice to South Georgia.
