Irwin Co. Sheriff warns of internet scams

The Irwin County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about internet scams. An Ocilla woman recently lost $2,500 to scammers when she thought she was buying a truck for her grandson.

Investigators say other scammers use Craig's List and eBay, and it's tough to catch them.

"These scammers are usually overseas and there's no way of getting your money back with them being overseas. If it sounds too good to be true, leave it alone," said Lt. Stephen Rogers of the Irwin County Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Rogers says you should not exchange money until you have the item in your possession.
