VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Second Harvest food bank in Valdosta once again provided meals to South Georgians in need just in time for Thanksgiving.
Volunteers handed out 1,500 boxes of food at Valdosta High School Tuesday morning for their annual Thanksgiving food distribution event. Each box had 25 pounds of food, including green beans, corn, rice, and shelf-stable milk.
"We thank 'em so much, everyone of 'em, because they don't have to do this," said Melba Miller, who received food from the event. "It means a lot to us senior citizens because there's not a lot of programs for the senior citizens."
At the 2013 event, Second Harvest handed out 4,000 boxes of food.
