The Cordele Police Department is investigating several car break-ins at Cracker Barrel over the weekend. Hunting equipment was stolen from 4 cars in the parking lot near I-75.
Cordele police say their counterparts in Tifton are also investigating break-ins at a Cracker Barrel there. They encourage drivers not to leave anything in their car that would increase their chances of becoming a victim.
"Don't make your purses and wallets accessible. Don't leave them in the front seats of cars. We get that all the time. Windows smashed in because people leave purses, iPads, computers," said Sgt. Jeremy Taylor of the Cordele PD.
All but one of the victims were from out of town. The two agencies believe the break-ins are related.
