ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police confirm two people were killed in a shooting that happened at an apartment complex late Friday night.

Investigators say the shooting happened at Wild Pines Apartments on Sands Drive near Albany State University.

According to investigators, 24-year-old James William Sanders was pronounced dead at the apartment complex, and 24-year-old Anthony Allen Cook was taken from the scene by car to get medical treatment.

Officials said the driver of the car spotted an EMS crew on the scene of a car accident at the Woodall's at the corner of Oglethorpe and Radium Springs, and asked the crew for help.

The emergency crews there attempted to help Cook, who was then taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Cook was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.

Albany Police are working with Albany State University Police in the investigation since the incident happened in proximity of the campus.

Police did not immediately name a suspect from the shooting. No other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeSTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
