ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Volunteers started ringing the familiar bells around Red Kettles to raise money for the Salvation Army Friday.
Jeff Sheffield has been a volunteer bell ringer for several years.
Outside the Albany Mall, he reported that donations were steady.
"Its something that's near to my heart," said Sheffield. "I'm a student at Albany State in grad school in social work and I feel it's part of giving back to the community and I like to help wherever I can."
The Albany Salvation Army's goal is to raise $65,000 in the Red Kettle campaign through Christmas Eve.
They are still accepting volunteers if you would like to be a bell ringer.
