SOWEGA Council on Aging is serving more people

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - SOWEGA Council on Aging leaders say their new facility is helping them serve more people.

This afternoon's annual meeting was the first the council held in the Senior Life Enrichment Center that opened early this year on West Society Avenue.

Since moving into the new facility, the council has expanded services despite cuts in federal funding.

"Last year we had a big sequestration cut and we're being told we may get one this year but we don't know that yet. The other thing with this nice building we are letting some other people rent it out. That's how we get money to put directly into the programs," Kay Hind, Executive Director.

The council also elected new members to its Board of Directors today.
