ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More than 200 families received free bags of fresh fruits and vegetables Tuesday.
Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia brought this farmers market to people who live in Albany Housing Authority units.
Organizers say it's a way to build community and promote healthy eating.
"We want to make sure they are eating properly and they are utilizing healthy eating and healthy living. And so we wanted to make sure we came and brought everything inside their community and that's another reason why we are here in the housing authority. A lot of times people don't have transportation and can't go to the store," said Crystal Boggs.
People also enjoyed hot chocolate and got information about services offered by Goodwill... the Housing Authority and other groups.
