A man accused of showing up drunk to a court-ordered Mother's Against Drunk Driving class was taken directly to jail from the meeting.
Jonathan Wilcox, 22, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
South Georgia MADD chapter leader Gary Robinson said Wilcox drove to the class in Tifton, and smelled of alcohol.
"It's totally disrespectful to the victims that showed up to speak," said Robinson. "And it's real serious- drinking and driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, prescription drugs. It's all dangerous," said Robinson.
Officers took Wilcox to the Cook County jail, where he was also being held on probation violation charges., He was also previously charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident in March, which led to the court ordered MADD class.
According to a report, hen officers tested his blood 11 hours after the crash, it was below the legal limit.
Wilcox later pleaded guilty to failure to exercise due care and attending the MADD class was part of his sentencing.
