ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany State fraternity is making it their mission to feed 500 people in 100 days.
Members of Phi Beta Sigma Incorporated donated more than 100 sack lunches to the homeless at Albany Rescue Mission this weekend. It's part of their "500 in 100" series. The sack lunches consists of a sandwich, snacks and a bag of chips. The fraternity hopes others will follow their lead.
"So we're basically trying to go ahead and get this thing started so it can already be out there in the community. Other people might want to start trying to do the same thing that we are. We're just trying to spread food to as many homeless people as possible," Deterrius Perkins, Director of Social Action.
The Fraternity will donate sack lunches to other homeless shelters throughout the month. The "500 in 100" series is also part of their Centennial celebration.
