ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany organization feeds hundreds of people in need at their President's home.
The East Town Civic League passed out two hundred boxes of food for their Thanksgiving Food Giveaway at their President's home, Johnnie Pearl Hammond, on Barkley Boulevard. The food boxes had assorted canned goods and meats. The organization also received a $3500 grant from Courtney Brinson, with AT&T, to help continue their food giveaway.
"Even if we just meet one need," said Johnnie Pearl Hammond, East Town Civic League President. "We trying to reach the need and there are a lot of people that really need."
The East Town Civic League has hosted a food giveaway two to three times a year since 2004. Their next giveaway is in January.
