ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Lenox couple says they've lost almost $3,000 because someone is forging their checks.
Danny and Nancy Holt got a fraud letter from BB&T Bank in Tifton after they lost their checkbook.
A total of 10-checks for $2,900 were written by three people.
The names were traced to Dougherty County where checks were cashed or written for daycare expenses.
The Holts want the people who cleaned out their account put in jail and they want to warn others.
“We want everybody to know if you misplaced a check book start checking it immediately. It did take quite a bit of time before these checks started coming through because I knew I had a checkbook missing. I thought it was at home or something of that nature, but evidently it got in the wrong hands and had been passed around,” said Danny Holt.
That account is now closed.
The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
