Couple arrested in Valdosta for leaving child outside all night

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta couple is accused of leaving a child outside all night.

Police say 30 year-old Earl Franks, Jr. and 30 year-old Katoya Jennings made Jennings' 7 year-old son stand in the back yard of their home on Schroer Drive around 8 p.m. Saturday to punish him for misbehaving.

A person driving near the home around 10 the next morning saw the boy walking along the street and called police. "[We] contacted the mother and the boyfriend and they advised that he had been told to go outside into the back yard the night before as a form of punishment and they left him out there overnight and he had, of course, walked off at some point," said Valdosta Police Department Lieutenant Aaron Kirk.

Franks and Jennings were arrested on reckless conduct charges, but as of Wednesday were free on bond.
