Ashburn Fire Chief hoping for high ISO rating

ASHBURN, GA (WALB) - The Ashburn Fire Chief is hoping his department can become the smallest in the state to receive a class 2 ISO rating. Ashburn currently has an ISO rating of 3.

The rating is based on all sorts of factors, grading fire departments and how well they protect the areas they serve. Chief Brian Meadows says their in-house training program and manpower help their rating.

"We're in the top 5 percent in the whole country. If we are able to get that class 2, we'll be in the top 2 percent in the country," said Ashburn Fire Chief Brian Meadows.

Meadows hopes to have the new rating by the first of next year. It could save homeowners 15 percent on their insurance.
