BOWIE, MD (WALB) -

Former NFL and University of Georgia football star Charles Grant was fired from his job after he got into an altercation with a student athlete at Bowie State University, according to the Sports Information Director.

He had been an assistant coach at Bowie State University, in Bowie, MD.

According to a video on TMZ Sports, Grant is seen body slamming a student athlete in a gym on October 30.

Campus police said they were investigating the incident. Grant, meanwhile, has not been officially charged with a crime.

Charles Grant was in his second season with the Bowie State football program.

Growing up, Grant was a star player at Miller County High School in Colquitt and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy.

He also played football at the University of Georgia and a first-round draft pick in 2001 by the New Orleans Saints.

Grant played 10 seasons with the Saints, including the team's 2009 season that took them to win the Super Bowl in 2010.
