ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton State College honors military veterans with a special ceremony this evening.
A concert featuring the Darton State College orchestra and concert band performed for veterans and their families.
This is the third year for the program called "A Salute to Veterans". Lt. Col. Nathanial Robinson Executive Officer from M-C-L-B- Albany was the guest speaker for the event. Darton official said Tuesday's event expresses their sincere gratitude for all who served.
"Well there is a lot to be said for us and I think they done well to honor us and all the other veterans too," said Allen Bearmon.
I think every day we should be grateful and thankful for the service of our veterans but I think this is just a special day sot of their birthday of sorts that special day that's dedicated directly," said Stefane Raulerson, Director of Military and Adult Education.
The college also hosted a reception for veterans and rededicated the Freedom Bell which was installed on campus in 1973 to honor Dougherty County Vietnam Veterans.
