ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The VA has been restructuring after problems with patient care that came to light.
A new partnership with the VA and National hospice care will make a difference for veterans nearing the end of life.
Albany community hospice will provide specialized training for staff to care for the needs of veterans and their families.
It will also connect them with services and benefits that are available to them such as home and bereavement care and PTSD.
The staff will learn how to facilitate conversation while providing appreciation for their service near the end of life in a comfortable and safe setting
it will give them the opportunity to share their experiences with family and friends, it will help them say things to family members that maybe they have not said yet>
Stephens says one of the most important aspects of this partnership is to recognize and honor these men and women that have sacrificed for others.
