ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Sheriff's Officials say an escaped inmate was using social media while on the run, showing pictures on Facebook of places in Florida he claimed to be.
29 year old James Parker broke away from a deputy October 13th during a hospital visit, following his arrest on drug charges. He was arrested Saturday morning on Eager Avenue after a CrimeSTOPPERS tip led law enforcement to capture him.
Jail officials say Parker was making Facebook posts claiming to be in Florida while on the run, but they are not sure if he was just trying to throw them off the trail.
Dougherty County Jail Director Colonel John Ostrander said "He had posted some information on Facebook. But he was back in town, and at the residence of his lover."
That lover, Mitchell Hunt, was also arrested and charged with aiding Parker's escape. Parker could face up to five years in prison for the escape.
