Terrell County officials expect to have to borrow money to make ends meet.
Commissioners recently approved a resolution to borrow $500,000. While it's not unusual, county officials say they haven't had to do this in several years.
The chairman says the board of education missed a deadline, delaying the county's tax notice for residents.
That means revenue will be late coming in. "We're going to be about half or less collected in this fiscal year, so we're simply going to run out of money. We got the resolution to use if necessary, but it will be necessary," said Wilbur T. Gamble, the Terrell County Commission Chairman.
Gamble says the commission also spent money on items that weren't in the budget.
They do not plan to raise taxes to generate more money.
