New ride under construction at Wild Adventures

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Construction is underway on a new ride at Wild Adventures theme park in Valdosta.

Riders will be seated on a platform, which will swing riders back and forth, getting higher and higher with each swing. Laurie Windham, public relations coordinator for Wild Adventures, said the park receives a lot of feedback from guests about always wanting new rides so the park looked for a way to bring in a ride that would be both thrilling and available to most age groups.

"[The ride] will be a platform where folks will sit and the ride will do the motion of a 'swoosh'. It'll slowly build momentum and go up, and up, and up," explained Windham. "Then when it gets to the very top, which is four stories, it'll drop back down...it kind of gives you that feeling of swinging through the trees in the rain forest."

The ride is expected to be ready by the time the park opens for its 2015 season in mid-March.

The park also recently announced two of its concerts for the 2015 season. "One of the two concerts that'll be here for the 2015 season is Jennifer Nettles," Windham pointed out. Nettles lived for a brief time in Douglas, Georgia. "The second band will be the band Foreigner."

The full concert schedule, along with the dates for Jennifer Nettles and Foreigner, will be released in February.
