ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Celebrity Chef and South Georgia native Paula Deen donates thousands of dollars to help an Albany organization.

Deen presented a $5000 check to “The Lord's Pantry” at Modern Gas as part of her "Bag Lady" Foundation. She held a "meet and greet" and book signing for fans. Deen says the Lord's Pantry is a foundation that her parents also support.

"It's wonderful because it feeds a lot of people, especially a lot of elderly people that are having a hard time,” said Paula Deen.

"We never expected it but it is something that we're really going to put to good use this season, because our business really picks up around Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said C.B. Fincher, The Lord's Pantry Volunteer.

Deen's Bag Lady Foundation was formed in 2012.
