Stand up for our homeless community

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

We've already had a few cold nights this season, raising concerns about the homeless this winter.

The Albany-Dougherty Homeless Coalition is preparing for the third annual "Stand up for our Homeless Community."

The V-A donated items such as blankets and coats and will help veterans access benefits, services and housing assistance.

Volunteers from the Anchorage addiction treatment center worked hard to help the coalition get ready for the event. "Words can't express how thankful we are that they came and stayed as long as they did and made sure that not only these items were packed up but also that this place cleaned up," David Blackwell, Chairman Albany-Dougherty Coalition.

The event will be November 14th from 10 until 3 on the main floor of the Civic Center.
