LEE CO., GA (WALB) - The Lee County High School Theatre Arts Program gave an encore performance of an award-winning play Wednesday.
The program won first place in its region last week for "The Fastest Woman Alive" about Jackie Cochran, the first female pilot to break the sound barrier. Four cast members also won top acting awards.
"It's a very big win for our county and we're very proud. We have other sports and activities that have been doing well this season, so we're continuing our winning streak," said Nicolette Mantica, 'Jackie Cochran'.
This is our first time in 6-A at the high school, so to win the competition our first year was amazing and to be recognized for four of our cast members," said Candace Shirley, 'Amelia Earhart.'
The cast will perform the play in the state competition Saturday in Warner Robbins.
