Grand jury indicts former jailer

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A former Dougherty County jailer is accused of taking a bribe to smuggle prescription pills and tobacco into the jail.

The grand jury indicted 20 year old Felicia Maria Ruiz on charges of conspiracy to bring contraband into a penal institution and violation of oath of office.

Prosecutors say from June to August, Mark Hudson paid Ruiz a couple hundred dollars to deliver the contraband to inmate Amanda Childers inside the jail.

Neither Hudson nor Childers has been charged with any crime.
