ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - After a resounding victory in his re-election bid Tuesday, Governor Nathan Deal will meet the media at 10:00AM to lay out his plan for the future of the state in his second term.
WALB's Colter Anstaett will have a report later today from Atlanta.
Deal announced his inaugural team to plan and execute the inauguration ceremony and other related events. Banks and Missy Burgess, parents of the late Deal campaign field staffer Mack Burgess, will serve as honorary chairs. Tom Willis, is executive director, Tricia Pridemore, and Edens Davis, are co-chair.
Republican Deal beat Democratic challenger Jason Carter, the grandson of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, even as Deal presided over a weak economy.
Deal won about 60 percent of the male vote, taking the state with 53% overall. During the campaign for governor, Carter attacked Deal on the state's weak labor market.
Still, Deal won 64 percent of the vote among people who described the job situation as worse today than four years ago, when Deal won his first term as governor.
