Deal, Perdue declared winners

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Georgia races across the board proved big wins for Republicans.

Gov. Nathan Deal was named the winner of the Governor's race garnering 53% of the vote. He defeated Democrat Jason Carter, a state senator and grandson of former President Jimmy Carter. 

Republican David Perdue was declared the winner of Georgia's U.S. Senate race, defeating Michelle Nunn. Perdue also received 53% of the vote.

Statewide races for Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General and Ag Commissioner were all claimed by GOP incumbents.

Tift County resident Republican Richard Woods won the race for State School Superintendent.
