TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - It looks like the one candidate from our area to win a statewide race will be the next state School Superintendent.
The latest numbers show Republican Richard Woods with a large lead over Democrat Valerie Wilson.
Woods watched the results come in tonight at his home in Tift County.
He's a former teacher and administrator in Irwin County.
Woods said he plans to continue helping school.
"Really personalizing the education system of our children instead and looking forward to allow our teachers to teach,"
