BAKER CO., GA (WALB) - The 2014 election could be the last for some precincts in Baker County if election officials have their way.
They are looking to close several small buildings like the one at Hoggards Mill.
Election officials said polling locations in old buildings are no longer adequate because of several problems, including reliable power for the voting machines.
However, there has been plenty of opposition to closing the precincts, where voting turnout was strong early Tuesday.
"We got our first voter here before 7 a.m. So they were able to vote right at 7. It has been pretty busy ever since then," said Poll Manager Markeia White.
Baker County currently has five precincts. One is in the city of Newton and the other four are in the county.
