ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Arson investigators with the Albany Fire Department are examining the scene of a firebombing that happened Tuesday morning on Clark Avenue in East Albany, at Albany Homes. It's the same building in which a man's body was discovered days earlier.
Someone threw as many as three Molotov cocktails into one of two remaining occupied apartments in the building at 1718 Clark. The occupant, Walter Newsome, was not at home when the incident happened. Now investigators are trying to determine if the two attacks are connected.
"We are exploring all avenues at this time. We haven't ruled anything out. But at this time it's too early to tell whether they are," said Investigator Sam Harris.
This apartment is only two doors down from the apartment where the body of Cordale Brown was discovered a few days ago. That apartment was also burned, and the investigation continues in that case.
In today's incident, it appears that two of the cocktails exploded; one that was thrown through a door, and another thrown through a window.
