THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Third graders at Cross Creek Elementary didn't just carve pumpkins this year, they transformed them into their favorite book characters.
This is the school's fourth year to showcase the students' creativity with a Literacy Pumpkin Fair.
Students chose a book to read and then designed a pumpkin with their favorite character in mind.
Characters like Harry Potter, Junie B. Jones, and even Elvis were on display.
Third Grade Teacher Michele Dechman said, “This whole project is about getting kids interested in reading and then further developing their writing skills based on something that interests them. And then also showcasing their creativity.”
Students get graded on their pumpkins as well as their book reports, but the teachers said it's too hard to pick a favorite.
