LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Moody Air Force Base hosted a veterans golf tournament Friday as part of the base's annual retiree appreciation week program.
Veterans from all branches of the military participated in the friendly competition at Quiet Pines Golf Course Friday morning. Retiree appreciation week program coordinator, retired Airman James "Jimmy" Ingram, said the program is the base's way of showing the veterans that they have not been forgotten.
"We just want the retiree community to know that they're still appreciated," Ingram emphasized. "These people have served in the military. I'm certain that many have done outstanding jobs and they still serve. Some of 'em still serve."
Retiree appreciation week will conclude on Saturday with retiree appreciation day. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., a free continental breakfast will be available to veterans in the Freedom One fitness center on base. The Wing Commander and other base personnel will speak and a health and information fair will also be available on Saturday.
