ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One southwest Georgia Democrat hoping to topple a Republican incumbent is Rev. Ezekiel Holley.
The Terrell County NAACP leaders are running for state house in District 151.
He said it's one of poorest districts in the country and the Republicans' decision not to accept federal money to expand Medicaid is hurting the Southwest Georgia economy.
"There are four hospitals that have closed in the 151st District and that trickles down into 7,000 jobs. I would like to see the medicaid expansion in Georgia because that's millions of dollars."
Holley is running against Republican Gerald Greene and is a retired teacher who has served in the state house for more than 30 years.
