ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A business that has helped generations of people in Albany enjoy Halloween is wrapping up its final Halloween season.
Doyal's Wholesale Company opened in 1952.
Jerry Doyal says after many great years, business has slipped recently because of competition from chain stores and online retailers.
After he was held up at gunpoint in June, he decided to shut down.
Doyal says the family business has been a second home for him and his sons since they were little boys.
They say they've built great friendships with customers over the years.
"Meeting people, serving people, and getting to know everybody. There are so many people in the community, I may not know all the names, but I do know faces here and there," said Jerry Doyal.
"I love Halloween, but not having Halloween up here, I'm going to miss Halloween I really am it's my favorite time," said Blair Doyal.
All of the merchandise is 50-percent off now. Deeper discounts will start right after Halloween.
Doyal isn't sure of the exact closing date, but he thinks it will be around the New Year.
He told us he wants to thank the community for all of their support over the years.
