Ladder and crowbar used in attempted AT&T burglary

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tifton Police are looking for a failed burglar.

Police say someone tried to break into the AT&T store on Highway 82 West between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday.

When the crook couldn't get in through the back door, he used a ladder to get on the top of the building where he used a crowbar to try to get through the metal roof.

Investigators believe more than one person was involved.

“I think it had to be two because the ladder itself they used are pretty extensive. It's a pretty long ladder to use to get on top of that building, so somebody had to hold that ladder to be stable to climb on top of that building. The holiday season is coming and burglars are not doing the traditional smash and grab. They are going climbing on top of roofs and trying to rip the roof apart to gain access to these businesses. While patrolling, most officers can't see on top of a building,” said Dorminey McCrae, Tifton Police Department.

There are no surveillance cameras at the back of the store. Tifton police found a trail of evidence, including a shoe print.
