Valdosta family awoken by gunfire inside their home

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police are trying to figure out who broke into a family's home early Wednesday morning and fired a gunshot into a wall.

According to the police report Wednesday morning, an unknown person kicked in the front door of 331 Sawgrass Dr. and then fired one shot into the home. A hole could be seen towards the bottom of the hallway wall leading from the front door of the home into the living room area Wednesday morning.

33 year-old Maceo Williams and 26 year-old Brittany Harrell, along with two children, were asleep inside the home when they heard someone kick in the front door around 12:30 a.m. and then heard a single gunshot.

No one in the home was injured. Police did find a shell casing inside the home along with a baseball cap believed to belong to the shooter.

WALB will be speaking with Valdosta Police later today for more information.
