CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Construction is underway on one of Cordele's busiest roads. Crews are digging up parts of 8th Avenue and Pecan Street this week, closing the road to traffic.
Officials say the one million dollar project will fix two problems at once.
"It'll be a three lane road which is going to help traffic flow and also alleviate any storm water problems we have by enhancing our storm water system in that area," said Cordele Public Works Director Steve Fullford.
Fullford says they are accommodating through-traffic to the best of their ability.
The project should be done by next summer.
