STATESBORO, GA (WALB) - A former Georgia banker and preacher who pleaded guilty to embezzling millions of dollars from clients was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Lee Price was sentenced by a federal judge in Statesboro Tuesday.
Price pleaded guilty in June to bank, wire and securities fraud as part of a deal with prosecutors that calls for a maximum of 30 years in prison.
He also agreed to pay $51 million in restitution for bank and investor money that he lost.
Price disappeared in June 2012, leaving rambling notes saying he planned to jump off a ferryboat. He was captured during a traffic stop on December 31, 2013 and has been in federal prison since.
